Born on April 22, 1974, Chetan Bhagat hails from Delhi and finished his schooling from Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan. Son of an Army Officer, Chetan was a good and sincere student throughout.
Chetan Bhagat did Mechanical Engineering from IIT, the most prestigious engineering college in India, followed by MBA from IIM-Ahmedabad, again one of the most renowned colleges for management.
Soon after completing his MBA, Chetan Bhagat got a job with Goldman Sachs, after braving 27 internal interviews, and worked with the company in their Hong Kong Office as an investment banker for about a decade. It was while working here in Hong Kong that he wrote his first book in 2004.

Soon after, Chetan quit his lucrative job and decided to become a full-time author which was probably the best decision he made in his life. That is, to follow his heart’s desire.
Well, his first book, Five Point Someone, not only became a bestseller but was also made a movie on. The movie, 3 idiots, became an even greater success and can be inarguably called one of the best movies of the time, bringing all the fame and name to this young author who then never looked back.
Weaving his relatable stories around the young urban middle-class characters, Chetan Bhagat has touched the cord of the young readers and has garnered a huge fan following and immense popularity.
Today, Chetan Bhagat is a well-known name not only for his bestsellers but also for wearing many hats like that of an author, a screenplay writer, a motivational speaker, an anchor and a columnist. Venturing into non-fiction work in 2012, this ex-international investment banker, Chetan Bhagat, came out with a compilation of his speeches and essays voicing the needs and issues of the youth in his book ‘What young India wants’.

Later, in 2015, he came out with another non-fiction bestseller titled ‘Making India awesome’ which nailed the tenacious problems this otherwise magnificent country needs to seriously do something about and eradicate.
Chetan Bhagat: The Screenplay Writer
After savouring the success of his bestseller books and movies based on those, Chetan Bhagat made his debut as a screenplay writer for the Bollywood movie ‘Kick’ which was another hit with his fans and audience. With Salman Khan in main lead, the movie did good business and was appreciated for its impressive storyline.
